CS:GO Wingman — Competitive 2v2 Matchmaking

Ranked 2v2 matches with a lower K-factor for more stable Elo changes. Queue solo or with a partner and compete in fast-paced duo rounds on dedicated servers.

How Wingman Works

Wingman is Crossfire's 2v2 competitive mode. Two players per team, shorter matches, and a lower K-factor (160 vs 320) so each match moves your Elo less than in 5v5. It's designed for players who want ranked competition without committing to a full 5v5 match.

  1. Queue solo or as a duo — The matchmaker pairs you with or against players at a similar Elo.
  2. Map vote — Both teams vote on the map from the Wingman map pool.
  3. Play — Shorter rounds, faster pace, high individual impact.
  4. Elo update — Your Elo updates after the match (K=160 for Wingman).

Why a Lower K-Factor for Wingman?

2v2 matches have fewer players, which means less variance in outcomes. A lower K-factor (160 vs 320 in 5v5) ensures that individual Wingman matches don't swing your Elo too drastically. Your Elo is shared across modes, but Wingman simply has less impact per match.

The K-factor is 160 for Wingman (vs. 320 for 5v5) because fewer players means less variance — a lower K-factor prevents one lucky or unlucky match from drastically changing your rating.

When to Play Wingman

  • Short on time — Wingman matches are faster than full 5v5 games.
  • Duo practice — Perfect for working on coordination with a regular partner.
  • Individual skill focus — Your impact is amplified with only 2 players per team.
  • Warmup before 5v5 — Play a ranked Wingman before committing to a longer match.
